did you audition down under ready to actually come to the united states for that? >> i came to the states. i had never been to america before, i had just -- i was 20 and i did a screen test in australia and i didn't -- it was my first screen test so i didn't know how to do it because we didn't do any film and tv train, it was very much a feeder school so i got very, very nervous and i remember the lovely reader was reading so, so fast and i thought is this what you do in film and tv coming up to talk so fast, anyways, i thought it was diabolical and then someone sent it to baz's people and the wonderful casting agent somehow fished it out and somehow sent it to him. the first time i ever saw him -- i don't think i've ever told anyone the story. the first time i saw him was he asked a lovely makeup artist to come to my room to do my makeup for the screen test, i had never had my makeup done before so i thought that was kind of bizarre. and while this lovely gentleman was doing my face i heard this knock on the door in the hotel, i thought who is that, i don't know -
